Skin has been regarded as the main structural barrier of the body and any alteration in its structure favours the development of an infection. Skin itself is a harbour of saprophytic microbiota composed of bacteria that support well the acidic and dry environment of the epidermis. Any alteration in the microbiota, results in the development of transient microbiota that can trigger infections. S. aureus and S. pyogenes are the common microorganisms that are most frequently implicated in skin infections.
